DHL Supply Chain announced in late September 2026 a new logistics solution targeting U.S. health systems, with the core being the development of a consolidated service center that brings together inventory and medical support activities previously scattered across multiple locations. The model integrates warehousing, preparation, inventory management, and distribution into a single hub, with dedicated transportation and last-mile delivery connecting to hospitals, physician groups, and outpatient facilities. Jim Saponaro, President of Life Sciences and Healthcare at DHL Supply Chain North America, stated that amid ongoing product shortages and supply chain disruptions, end-to-end supply chain visibility is crucial for health systems, and this level of visibility and control can help health systems build resilience . The initiative is part of DHL Group's Strategy 2030, which has committed €2 billion to expand health logistics capabilities by 2030, with half allocated to the Americas .
IKEA and autonomous driving technology company Kodiak AI are advancing plans to launch fully driverless long-haul freight service on the Houston-Dallas corridor in Texas. The route covers 219 miles, primarily along Interstate 45, connecting IKEA's distribution center in Baytown with its store in Frisco. Over the past four years, Kodiak has completed more than 1,300 autonomous loads for IKEA with a safety observer on board, logging over 750,000 miles . Kodiak reported that 93% of the evidence and claims required for the long-haul safety case were materially complete as of the end of August, with plans to complete the process and begin driverless operations by the end of 2026 . This project illustrates a path for autonomous road freight development: through repeatable routes, established shipper relationships, and detailed validation of loading, delivery, and roadside procedures .
DP World's Global Trade Observatory released the Chief Supply Chain Officer Pulse Report in early October 2026, based on a survey of 103 chief supply chain officers across 14 markets and nine industries conducted in August. The report found that 84% of respondents stated that resilience and optionality have replaced cost reduction as the primary drivers of supply chain strategy, 71% plan to diversify their supplier base over the next 12 months, and 86% believe access to alternative and multimodal trade routes is becoming a competitive advantage . Yuvraj Narayan, Group CEO of DP World, stated that businesses are responding to uncertainty not by retreating from growth, but by creating more choices about where they source, how they move goods, and how they reach customers . The report describes this shift as a move from "optimization" to "optionality," with supply chains no longer designed primarily around cost and efficiency, but rather creating viable alternatives that can be activated as trade rules, tariffs, demand, and geopolitical conditions change .
CMA CGM and DSV signed an agreement in early October 2026 under which DSV will use CMA CGM's ACT+ low-carbon shipping solution, targeting a reduction of 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over two years. The emissions reductions will be achieved through second-generation UCOME-based biofuels (produced from used cooking oil) and BioLNG . CMA CGM's ACT+ solution can reduce well-to-wake CO2 emissions by up to 83% compared with conventional marine fuels, using a mass balance approach to track and allocate low-carbon fuel quantities and their emissions benefits to specific shipments, with customers receiving third-party independently verified emissions reduction declarations . Michael Hollstein, Senior Vice President of Global Ocean Product at DSV, stated that reducing emissions across global supply chains requires strong collaboration and scalable solutions, and this partnership expands access to lower-carbon shipping options for customers . Both companies have set net-zero emissions targets for 2050, and CMA CGM expects to operate approximately 200 dual-fuel LNG and methanol-powered vessels capable of using low-carbon energy by 2031 .
