MoPSW Directs Major Ports to Scale Captive Solar and Wind Capacity to 200 MW Under Green Bunkering Push
The policy directive, cleared following an inter-port sustainability review chaired by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, builds upon the foundational principles of the Harit Sagar Green Port Guidelines and the Harit Shrey green vessel port tariff incentive framework. The new mandate instructs public port trusts—including Deendayal Port Authority (Kandla), Paradip Port Authority, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (Tuticorin), and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA)—to systematically transition high-load quayside handling equipment, internal rail transfer loops, and port administrative zones onto zero-emission captive microgrids.
