CHENNAI / TOKYO — Global supply chain and third-party logistics (3PL) provider TVS Supply Chain Solutions Limited (TVS SCS) has officially entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan-headquartered logistics, plant engineering, and heavy industrial transport major Sankyu Inc. The cross-border alliance is engineered to jointly pursue high-growth supply chain and engineering service opportunities across key industrial sectors, providing integrated end-to-end operational solutions for multinational manufacturing conglomerates.

As part of the landmark agreement, Tokyo-based Sankyu Inc. has formally indicated its intent to acquire a 0.5% equity stake in TVS Supply Chain Solutions, subject to customary regulatory and board approvals.

Synergizing Japanese Engineering with Subcontinental Logistics Reach 

The collaboration brings together TVS SCS’s extensive pan-India supply chain infrastructure, multimodal distribution capabilities, and deep local client relationships with Sankyu’s century-old expertise in precision plant engineering, operational maintenance, and heavy machinery transport.

The strategic scope outlined in the MoU focuses on:

  • End-to-End Industrial Logistics: Combining contract logistics, bonded warehousing, linehaul freight forwarding, and specialized in-plant material handling.

  • Turnkey Engineering & On-Site Support: Deploying specialized plant maintenance, factory relocation, heavy-lift logistics, and precision installation for high-spec industrial manufacturing lines.

  • Joint Steering Committee Governance: Establishing a dedicated bilateral executive committee composed of senior leadership from both organizations to identify operational synergies, guide joint bids, and steer new service rollouts.

Targeting 1,400+ Japanese Enterprises in India and Global Corridors

With more than 1,400 Japanese manufacturing and industrial corporations currently operating in India—spanning automotive assembly, consumer electronics, precision tooling, and green technology—the partnership creates an integrated logistics platform custom-built to support their evolving supply chain requirements.

While the joint initiative will initially deploy its capabilities across primary Indian industrial corridors—including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and the National Capital Region (NCR)—the companies confirmed plans to expand the operational framework into secondary manufacturing hubs across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, where both groups maintain active asset footprints.
