Haldia Dock Complex (HDC), operating under Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), has set a new record for the highest single-vessel container interchange in its operational history.
The milestone was achieved aboard the container vessel MV SITC Cagayan (Voy. 2612S), which handled a total container interchange of 2,612 TEUs during its port call before sailing on August 12, 2026

Key Operational Highlights & Rapid Succession Milestones

  • Surpassing Previous Benchmarks: The new record breaks the previous single-vessel benchmark of 2,583 TEUs, achieved just weeks earlier aboard SITC Makassar (Voy. 2612S) on July 28-29, 2026 marking a net gain of 29 TEUs.

  • Rapid Milestone Sequence: In September 2025, HDC recorded 2,385 TEUs on SITC Ruid. The rapid succession of new benchmarks highlights sustained productivity gains rather than isolated operational spikes.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: The achievement reflects seamless operational planning among port management, terminal operators, logistics teams, and shipping line partners.

  • Gateway Expansion in Eastern India: Efficiently servicing larger container parcel sizes reinforces HDC’s position as a primary container hub serving hinterlands across Eastern and Northeastern India.
