Boasting over <b data-path-to-node="6" data-index-in-node="224">80% indigenous content</b>, the project highlights the scaling capabilities of India's domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem under the <i data-path-to-node="6" data-index-in-node="358">Aatmanirbhar Bharat</i> vision.</p><h3 data-path-to-node="8"><b data-path-to-node="8" data-index-in-node="0">Technical Capabilities, Multi-Mission Design, and Strategic Impact</b></h3><p data-path-to-node="9">The ASW-SWC series is engineered to secure India's littoral zones and maintain continuous subsurface domain awareness:</p><ul data-path-to-node="10"><li><p data-path-to-node="10,0,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,0,0" data-index-in-node="0">Advanced Warfare & Surveillance Suite:</b> <i data-path-to-node="10,0,0" data-index-in-node="39">Machilipatnam</i> features indigenously developed Hull-Mounted Sonar (HMS) and Low-Frequency Variable Depth Sonar (LFVDS) systems, enabling high-precision detection, tracking, and engagement of hostile submarines in shallow coastal waters.</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,1,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,1,0" data-index-in-node="0">Multipurpose Operational Payload:</b> Equipped with lightweight torpedoes, anti-submarine rocket launchers, mine-laying capabilities, and a 30mm naval surface gun, the craft supports Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Low-Intensity Maritime Operations (LIMO), and mine warfare missions.</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,2,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="0">Speed and Propulsion:</b> Driven by water-jet propulsion systems powered by high-capacity diesel engines, the 78-meter vessel achieves speeds up to 25 knots while maintaining a reduced acoustic and radar signature.</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,3,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,3,0" data-index-in-node="0">Bolstering Coastal Defence:</b> Designed to replace older <i data-path-to-node="10,3,0" data-index-in-node="54">Abhay</i>-class corvettes, the vessel will undertake coastal patrol, search-and-attack unit (SAU) coordination, and littoral surveillance across the Indian Ocean Region.</p></li></ul>
