<p data-path-to-node="5">Driving its long-term strategy to achieve peak operational capacity and economic growth, the <b data-path-to-node="5" data-index-in-node="109">Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA)</b> is advancing an ambitious infrastructure expansion under its Integrated Port Master Plan. Aiming to expand annual cargo handling from 75.15 million metric tonnes (MT) toward a target of 85 MT, the state-owned port is scaling up its core Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) and liquid chemical infrastructure while optimizing its offshore automobile logistics terminals.</p><p data-path-to-node="6">Under the expansion blueprint led by MbPA Chairman M. Angamuthu, liquid bulk remains the backbone of the port, accounting for over 60% of total cargo volumes. To service rising refinery outputs from BPCL and HPCL, MbPA is adding significant deep-draft capacity at its two major liquid cargo hubs, Jawahar Dweep and Pir Pau.</p><h3 data-path-to-node="8"><b data-path-to-node="8" data-index-in-node="0">New Oil Berths, Chemical Terminals, and Multi-Modal Auto Logistics</b></h3><p data-path-to-node="9">The port's strategic master plan integrates heavy liquid bulk infrastructure alongside specialized break-bulk and automobile handling facilities:</p><ul data-path-to-node="10"><li><p data-path-to-node="10,0,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,0,0" data-index-in-node="0">Sixth Oil Berth (JD-6) at Jawahar Dweep:</b> MbPA is constructing a ₹400-crore sixth deep-draft oil terminal capable of receiving 2.81 lakh DWT Suezmax tankers. Supported by ongoing land reclamation for 4.2 lakh tonnes of tank storage with HPCL and BPCL, the project will add 5–6 MTPA of crude-handling capacity.</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,1,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,1,0" data-index-in-node="0">Fourth Chemical Berth at Pir Pau:</b> To meet accelerating liquid chemical demand, MbPA is building a Fourth Chemical Berth adding 2–3 MTPA of capacity, alongside dredging Pir Pau's access channels to accommodate larger chemical and LPG carriers.</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,2,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="0">Offshore Trestle Corridor:</b> A planned 5-km, four-lane offshore trestle equipped with specialized pipelines will directly connect Jawahar Dweep to Pir Pau, streamlining liquid cargo evacuation and mitigating city-side road traffic.</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,3,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,3,0" data-index-in-node="0">Automobile Ro-Ro Hub Utilization:</b> For automobile exports and coastal transfers, MbPA is leveraging its Ro-Ro facilities at the Offshore Container Terminal (OCT). With current berth occupancy below 20%, the port is utilizing existing Ro-Ro capacity to service major regional automotive OEMs without requiring heavy capital expansion.</p></li></ul><h3 data-path-to-node="12"></h3>
