<p data-path-to-node="5">Accelerating India's port-led development and domestic shipbuilding capacity, the <b data-path-to-node="5" data-index-in-node="103">Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB)</b> has issued Expressions of Interest (EoIs) inviting private and global investors to develop three greenfield shipyards, an Integrated Mega Shipbuilding Cluster, and six new greenfield ports along the Gujarat coastline. Announced during a major stakeholder consultation in Gandhinagar, the large-scale maritime infrastructure initiative is projected to attract investments exceeding <b data-path-to-node="5" data-index-in-node="513">₹35,000 crore</b>.</p><p data-path-to-node="6">The EoIs cover projects spanning over 4,500 hectares of maritime land, designed to boost national vessel construction capabilities while expanding Gujarat’s cargo-handling logistics footprint under the <b data-path-to-node="6" data-index-in-node="202">Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT)</b> framework.</p><h3 data-path-to-node="8"><b data-path-to-node="8" data-index-in-node="0">Mega Shipbuilding Cluster, Greenfield Ports, and Strategic Locations</b></h3><p data-path-to-node="9">The project layout establishes specialized maritime manufacturing hubs and commercial port gateways across strategic coastal districts:</p><ul data-path-to-node="10"><li><p data-path-to-node="10,0,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,0,0" data-index-in-node="0">Integrated Mega Shipbuilding Cluster:</b> Envisioned as a comprehensive maritime manufacturing ecosystem, the cluster will be established at <b data-path-to-node="10,0,0" data-index-in-node="137">Kuchhadi in Porbandar</b> across 823 hectares with a 2.7-km waterfront, supported by an estimated ₹25,000 crore investment.</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,1,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,1,0" data-index-in-node="0">Three Greenfield Shipyards:</b> Planned at <b data-path-to-node="10,1,0" data-index-in-node="39">Mithapur</b> (Devbhumi Dwarka), <b data-path-to-node="10,1,0" data-index-in-node="67">Ghogha</b> (Bhavnagar), and <b data-path-to-node="10,1,0" data-index-in-node="91">Vadhera</b> (Amreli), the proposed yards will add an annual shipbuilding capacity of 3.0 to 3.9 million gross tonnes (GT), supporting India's drive to reduce reliance on foreign shipbuilders.</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,2,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="0">Six New Greenfield Ports:</b> Covering nearly 3,200 hectares, GMB has proposed multi-commodity greenfield ports at <b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="111">Nana Layja</b> (Kutch), <b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="131">Vadhera</b> (Amreli), <b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="149">Vadodra Jhala</b> (Gir Somnath), <b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="178">Damka</b> (Surat), <b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="193">Lakhanka</b> (Bhavnagar), and <b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="219">Bhogat</b> (Devbhumi Dwarka), each designed for an initial capacity of 5-10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).</p></li><li><p data-path-to-node="10,3,0"><b data-path-to-node="10,3,0" data-index-in-node="0">Submission Timeline:</b> Tender documents and project guidelines are available on GMB’s official procurement portal, with the submission deadline set for <b data-path-to-node="10,3,0" data-index-in-node="150">September 21, 2026</b>.</p></li></ul>
