<p data-path-to-node="5">Marking a major breakthrough for Indian fresh fruit exports, a 12.5-tonne consignment of premium Dashehari and Langra mangoes from Uttar Pradesh was successfully delivered to Dubai via ocean freight. The shipment validated a sea-route export protocol jointly developed by the ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (ICAR-CISH) and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).</p><p data-path-to-node="6">Exported in a 40-foot reefer container by Shehnaz Export in partnership with Attashi Global to the Lulu Group in the UAE, the produce underwent specialized post-harvest management, including treatment with ICAR-CISH's METWASH shelf-life technology and continuous cold-chain management. Despite experiencing transit delays caused by Western Disturbances extending the harvest-to-market timeline to 25 days nearly 90% of the consignment arrived in prime marketable condition. Replacing expensive air cargo with sea freight significantly reduces logistics overheads, enabling exporters to pass on an additional income of ₹15–20 per kilogram directly to mango farmers.</p>
