Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT) has reached a new operational high with the
inaugural call of the vessel <i>M.V. Zhong Gu Nan Jing</i>. This maiden arrival
officially launches the HERCULES Service (HLS) at the terminal, a strategic
initiative spearheaded by X-Press Feeders to bridge the gap between Southeast
Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. By providing a dedicated weekly connection, the
service is designed to facilitate smoother cargo movement and offer broader
market access for regional importers and exporters. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> The
introduction of this service comes as NSFT, a joint venture between JM Baxi and
CMA Terminals, continues its rapid expansion at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT).
In late 2024, the terminal celebrated a major milestone by crossing the one
million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) mark in just 22 months of
operation. This momentum has carried into 2026, with the terminal recording its
highest-ever monthly throughput in April 2026, handling over 112,277 TEUs. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

HERCULES Service rotation connects key regional hubs, including Laem Chabang,
Singapore, and Port Klang, directly to Nhava Sheva, Mundra, and Karachi.
Operated by a fleet of vessels with capacities up to 5,000 TEUs, this fixed-day
service is a critical component of wider efforts to improve logistical
efficiency in Western India. The terminal is currently in the final stages of a
comprehensive revamp, aimed at increasing its total annual handling capacity to
1.8 million TEUs by the end of 2026. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">This
milestone aligns with broader national goals to enhance cargo handling
efficiency and promote green logistics. Alongside infrastructure upgrades, NSFT
is working toward electrifying its entire internal vehicle fleet by the end of
the 2026–27 fiscal year, supported by a newly commissioned heavy-vehicle
battery swapping station. These advancements solidify the terminal’s role as a
vital gateway in India's maritime trade ecosystem, supporting the country's
vision of becoming a global logistics hub. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
