<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The
landscape of Indian logistics is undergoing a radical environmental
transformation, as highlighted by Shri Sanjay Swarup, Chairman and Managing
Director of the Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), during his
keynote address at the Maritime & Logistics Conclave 2026 in New Delhi.
Speaking before a high-profile audience organized by the Container Freight
Station Association of India (CFSAI) and the National Association of Container
Freight Stations (NACFS), Swarup presented a comprehensive blueprint for
"Co-Creation of Resilient Logistics Infrastructure." This vision
places ecological responsibility at the heart of industrial resilience,
suggesting that the future of the nation’s supply chain is inextricably linked
to its ability to decarbonize operations while maintaining peak efficiency.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> Central to
this green transition is CONCOR’s aggressive move toward Liquefied Natural Gas
(LNG) as a primary fuel source for heavy-duty transport. The company has
already reached a significant milestone with the deployment of 230 LNG-powered
trucks, a move designed to drastically reduce particulate matter and nitrogen
oxide emissions compared to traditional diesel fleets. To ensure the viability
of this transition, CONCOR is not merely acting as a consumer but as an
infrastructure architect. By establishing specialized, in-house fueling
stations at key hubs like Khatuwas and the upcoming facility at Dadri, the
corporation is securing a self-sufficient energy loop that minimizes downtime
and optimizes the long-haul movement of goods across critical corridors.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> Strategic
collaboration remains a cornerstone of this sustainable roadmap, underscored by
a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with GAIL (India) Limited.
This partnership is set to accelerate the development of LNG infrastructure
nationwide, leveraging GAIL’s expertise in gas distribution to expand the reach
of clean fuel to remote logistics nodes. By building this network, CONCOR and
GAIL are effectively removing the "range anxiety" often associated
with alternative fuels in the logistics sector, encouraging a broader
industry-wide adoption of cleaner energy standards.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> Beyond the
focus on LNG, the corporation is pivoting toward full electrification to
address the "last mile" and terminal-side emissions. The induction of
electric vehicles into the fleet, paired with the implementation of advanced
Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) systems, marks a shift toward automated,
zero-emission cargo handling. Swarup’s address made it clear that CONCOR’s
strategy is multi-modal; by combining the efficiency of rail with the
sustainability of LNG and electric road transport, the public sector giant is
setting a new benchmark for "Green Logistics" in India. This holistic
approach ensures that as India’s economy grows, its carbon footprint does not
necessarily follow the same upward trajectory, fulfilling a commitment to both
modern industry and environmental stewardship.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
